LEWISHAM Police have apologised after a post wishing their followers a Happy St Patrick’s Day received mixed reaction on Twitter.
The tweet – which has now been removed – depicted the shape of a four-leaf clover using handcuffs.
Following the message being sent from Lewisham Police – based in southeast London – Twitter users accused them of being ‘racist.’ Some people were more concerned that the police didn’t know the difference between a shamrock and a four-leaf clover, while others saw the funny side.
The original image was used by San Diego Police in 2014 to urge people not to drink and drive on St Patrick’s Day.
