Watch Brendan Rodgers’ emotional speech after winning first trophy with Celtic

CELTIC strolled to a 3-0 victory over Aberdeen at Hampden Park on Sunday to lift the club’s 100th trophy and hand Brendan Rodgers his first honour as a manager.

The Antrim native cut an emotional figure upon being greeted by fans when they returned to Celtic Park after the match, choking up when addressing those who attended.

“As the manager of a club I’ve supported all my life, that first trophy means a lot,” he said, struggling to keep his emotions in check.

The Bhoys began brightly and were rewarded on 15 minutes when the ball found its way to Tom Rogic, who curled a shot into the far corner to give Celtic the lead.

The Glasgow giants then added to their lead just after the half-hour mark as James Forrest surged forward with the ball through midfield before finding the bottom corner of the net with a fine finish as Celtic took a vice-like grip on the final.

The victory was then wrapped up in the second-half when Forrest was brought down inside the box, allowing Moussa Dembele to convert from the penalty spot as the Bhoys secured their 100th major trophy with a comfortable win.
