Steve Collins backing ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan to KO Chris Eubank Jr

FORMER WBO middleweight champion Steve Collins has backed his fellow Irishman Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan to stop Chris Eubank Jr at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night.

Cork native O’Sullivan is a 4/1 underdog against Eubank Jr, who is the son of his namesake father, who Collins beat twice in 1995.

“I think Spike can handle him better than Chris can handle Spike,” Collins told The Irish Post. “So I’m predicting a win for Spike.

“I can see this fight being won inside the distance – both guys are going to come to really fight,” added Collins, whose brother Paschal trains O’Sullivan in Dublin’s Celtic Warrior gym.

“I think Spike will be better prepared for the fight because he’s got a great training camp and he’s got very wise coaches.

“I see him landing some of his big power shots on Chris Eubank, which Eubank hasn’t experienced before. But the experience Spike has can be used to his advantage.

“He’s going to be a lot fitter and has to be ready to knock him out in every round.”

The middleweight bout can be watched on Sky Sports Box Office from around 10pm on Saturday night ahead of the main event, Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte.
