Rugby World Cup: 'Minor' injury forces Johnny Sexton out of training

JOHNNY Sexton was forced to sit out training on Wednesday after picking up a knock, but Ireland's fly-half should recover in time for Sunday's game with Romania.

Sexton was Ireland's man of the match in the opening win against Canada having kicked well out of hand as well as organising the attack, topped off with a try of his own.

He's key to Joe Schmidt's side, but the 30-year-old has a slight knee concern having sat out Ireland's latest training session at their camp in St George's Park.

However, skills coach Richie Murphy insists there's nothing to be overly concerned about just yet, telling the Irish Independent: "He picked up a bit of a knock and we just felt that it was the right thing to just sit out training today [Wednesday]. He's fine and in good spirits.

"It's nothing major. It's just a case of trying to manage the players and make sure he's okay for the weekend. It's very little. It's a very minor knock and there's nothing to be worried about.

"Everyone's in contention for Sunday. Johnny has definitely not been ruled out for any other reason. He is in for selection like everyone else."
