ROY Keane is taking legal action against bookmaker Paddy Power, over a Braveheart billboard promotion.
The Ireland assistant manager is objecting to the use of his image on a billboard poster that was displayed on a lorry near the Aviva Stadium, in which he was portrayed as William Wallace.
The truck was driven around Dublin then stationed at the stadium when Ireland faced Scotland in a Euro 2016 qualifier in June.
Keane is suing Paddy Power for tens of thousands of euros in compensation on the grounds that his image rights were infringed.
The advert referenced Scottish voters' rejection of independence in last year’s referendum, and stated: "You may take our points but at least we have our freedom (ya wee pussies)."
A Paddy Power spokesman said: "Roy Keane has taken legal action against us following his face appearing on our Braveheart billboard ahead of the Ireland Scotland game.
"It's with the lawyers so obviously we can't talk about it, but hopefully they won't take our freedom to have a bit of craic."
No date has been set for hearings.
