Brendan Rodgers' Celtic on form ahead of Scottish League Cup final

CELTIC continued their fine form at the top of the Scottish Premiership by edging past Kilmarnock 1-0 on Friday night.

The first-half saw Brendan Rodgers’ side probing a solid Killie defence as Erik Sviatchenko nearly scored with a diving header and James Forrest's curling shot towards the top corner was saved.

However, just when the first 45 minutes looked like being goalless, Stuart Armstrong latched onto a poked ball through from Moussa Dembele, and found the corner of the net to give Celtic the lead.

In the second-half, Kilmarnock mounted the pressure on Celtic’s defence and nearly found a way back into the game when Dedryck Boyata was forced to clear off the line.

Despite looking uncertain, the Bhoys held their nerve to secure a seventh consecutive domestic clean sheet and stay clear at the top by 10 points.

The Bhoys' next domestic game is against Aberdeen on Sunday in the League Cup final at Hampden Park.
