Celtic FC’s club shop Christmas advert is hilarious yet ridiculously sweet

ON Sunday, Celtic’s fans lit up Hampden Park like a Christmas tree in the 67th minute of their 3-0 Scottish League Cup win over Aberdeen.

In recent matches, Bhoys fans have been using lights on their mobile phones to create a glowing effect around stadiums in that particular minute in anticipation of the 50th anniversary of their sole European Cup triumph.

May 25, 2017, will be the exact anniversary date of the club’s famous win over Inter Milan in Lisbon, but season-long tributes are expected to be ongoing until then.

And the club themselves have paid tribute – ironically through poking fun at the modern fascination with mobile phones – in their new Christmas ad for club merchandise.

It features a young Celtic fan fixated with his phone while his Bhoys-supporting grandfather attempts to show him the famous footage of the Lisbon Lions winning the European Cup.

Featuring special appearances from striker Leigh Griffiths (dressed as an elf), captain Scott Brown and manager Brendan Rodgers, the frustrated grandfather soon realises he was wrong to judge his grandson’s excessive use of his mobile phone.
