Woman arrested following discovery of child in Shankhill

THE NEWS comes after a baby girl was found in a critical condition at a house in Dublin today.

The discovery of the injured child occurred at approximately 4 pm yesterday.

The body of the child was identified as being between the ages of 3 and 4 years of age.

The authorities were alerted to the scene and An Garda Síochána sealed off the scene pending a forensic examination.

The child was found in a serious condition in the area of Shankill in Co. Dublin and was brought to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin, Co. Dublin.

The child had to be placed into an induced coma due to the grave nature of her injuries.

According to RTÉ, a woman in her 40s has been linked to the incident and has been arrested.

She's set to be questioned in a Garda station on the southside of County Dublin.
