Watford Irish dancers take glory in Co. Kerry this week

COMPETITORS from a Watford Irish dancing school have brought glory home from the An Comhdhail Irish Dancing World Championships being held in Killarney this week.

Ten girls from The Tiersha Academy in Hertfordshire are competing in the annual event – which kicked off at the INEC concert hall in Co. Kerry on March 28, where it runs until April 4.

And among them Lauren Gaffney and Millie Davis have already placed well in their respective categories, to the delight of their teachers Aisling Fitzpatrick and Melisa Reilly.

While Lauren took second place in the overall under 12 category, her friend and fellow Tiersha Academy dancer Millie placed tenth in the under 10 reel competition.

“We had an amazing result and are so proud of all the girls,” Millie’s mum Nicola told The Irish Post today.

Of the girls' results, the delighted team at The Tiersha Academy added: “We are so proud of you, words cannot describe. You danced stunningly, all your hard work and determination has paid off. You’re a credit to The Tiersha Academy and we can't wait to celebrate!”
