UTV Ireland to show Good Morning Britain after viewers' dissatisfaction

UTV Ireland has listened to its viewers and will show ITV morning flagship show Good Morning Britain.

Since the launch of the new station at the beginning of the year, UPC customers in Ireland have been without Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and co. in the mornings.

When UTV Ireland launched, it replaced the old UTV channel for the North of Ireland that Irish viewers had been accustomed with.

After a backlash from Good Morning Britain fans on social media, UTV Ireland bosses secured the programme to air between 6am and 8.30am Monday to Friday from the beginning of February.

The show will see news from the UTV Ireland news team at regular intervals throughout the show, while its presenters take a break for ITV’s regional news teams to update the viewers.

It is hoped the daily addition of Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard, Sean Fletcher and Charlotte Hawkins will give the station a boost, as it aims to take on the commercial television market in Ireland.

TV3’s morning offering, Ireland AM, will be in direct competition with the show.

The channel has already suffered due to UTV Ireland taking over the high rating Coronation Street and Emmerdale from TV3 airwaves.
