Tragedy as body of man recovered from canal in Irish city

THE body of an unnamed man has been recovered from a canal by emergency services in Ireland.

The discovery of the body was made yesterday afternoon at around 2pm in the Grand Canal in Dublin city centre, near to the Leeson Street Bridge.

Emergency services were called to the canal before the Garda Water Unit recovered the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the individual involved has not yet been confirmed.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said the man’s death is not believed to be sinister.
