Three Irish men wanted after attacking man and attempting to steal dog in Yorkshire

THREE Irish men are wanted by police in Yorkshire after attacking a man and attempting to steal his dog. 

The victim, a man in his fifties, had left his home on Eastern Terrace, York, in the late hours of Saturday, November 21 with his white and brown springer spaniel.

When he arrived at Stockton Lane, a white transit-style van pulled up and three men jumped out attacked him and tried to steal his dog.

The victim received scratches and swelling to his head and face, but the dog was not taken.

The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Saturday, November 21 and 12.30am on Sunday, November 22.

Police have issued an e-fit and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The first suspect is described white, in his late 20s, of stocky build, approximately 5ft 8inches tall, with short-cropped dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket with a small logo on the left chest area.

He was referred to as 'Johnny' or 'Joanie' by the other two suspects, and may have a head injury, which was sustained during the incident.

The second suspect is described as white, in his late 20s, of stocky build, approximately 6ft tall, with short-cropped dark hair. He was wearing a black denim jacket with a light-coloured top underneath.

The third and final suspect is also descried as white, in his late 20s, quite stocky, approximately 6ft tall, short-cropped dark hair. He was wearing a dark puffer jacket.

All the suspects are described as having strong Irish accents.

The van has a significant scratch to the metalwork across the passenger side, blacked-out windows on the back door.
