A status yellow weather warning has been issued for 8 counties

MET ÉIREANN have issued a warning for snow and ice for the next few days.

Irish weather looks to only get worse over the next 48 hours.

Ice and snow is predicted to hit Ireland, causing Met Éireann to warn many counties of the perils of the bad weather.

The status yellow weather warning has been given specifically to the counties of Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

The majority of Leinster has also been warned of snow, estimated to reach 3cm.

It's said the falls of snow will begin on Monday evening, and the snowfall is set to incur very bad road conditions by Tuesday morning.

The warning was issued by Met Éireann at 12pm today and is set to come into practice on Monday 5th February at 6pm.

The warning is to last Tuesday 6th February 2018 at 6am.
