More snow and ice weather warnings issued for Ireland

YET ANOTHER status yellow warning has been issued in Ireland, as winter conditions refuse to cease.

Met Eireann has issued a snow-ice warning for Ireland, which will remain in place until midnight tonight.

According to the national forecaster: “Snow showers likely to give accumulations of less than 3cm on Tuesday. The showers most frequent in the west and north of the country.

“Slippery roads and paths due to the accumulation of ice on untreated surfaces.”

The warning follows a night of very low temperatures across the country, leaving snow on the ground in many places this morning.

The west and north will experience much of the wintry showers today, with the east and southeast getting drier and brighter conditions prevailing in the east and southeast.

Temperatures are set to plummet again tonight, however, with lows of -5C.
