'We are being recognised' – redheads rejoice after new ginger emojis are revealed

REDHEADS rejoice! New ginger emojis have finally been confirmed as part of the new list for 2018.

Flame-haired people may have had a rough time of it in the past, from being the subject of ill-conceived nightclub theme events to more serious cases of bullying.

With around 10 per cent of Irish people having red hair, these are issues many people from Ireland can relate to.

Even when it comes to the humble emoji, redheads have been overlooked.

However that has now been rectified after Emojipedia revealed redheads were included among 157 new emojis.

Announced this week by the Unicode Consortium, the latest release marks the first time new components are available for hair colour.

Options are provided for red hair, curly hair, white hair, and baldness and these are available for use in sequences for men and women of any skin tone.

Users can expect to see the new emojis on their phones in the second half of the year.

Needless to say social media users were excited about the news, even if they can't use the ginger emojis just yet.
