Murder investigation launched by gardái after discovery of man's body

GARDAÍ have launched a murder investigation after a man’s body was discovered in Sligo.

The man, who is believed to be aged 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was discovered at around 1.30pm at a house on Connolly Street in the town, after gardaí were called to reports of an incident.

Gardaí arrested a 31-year-old man shortly after, who is being questioned at Ballymote Garda Station.

The area has been cordoned off while gardaí carry out an examination of the scene.

The State Pathologist's office has been notified.
