Mum fighting cancer dies just days after visit from Corrie star Shayne Ward

A MOTHER-OF-THREE battling cancer has died three days after singer and Corrie star Shayne Ward paid her a surprise visit.

Sheila Turner had her final wish granted when the Coronation Street actor visited her at home last Friday.

But the 53-year-old sadly died this morning, Manchester Evening News reports.

Ms Turner had been on end of life care for lung cancer, which she has suffered since being diagnosed in August 2014.

Her best friend of 16 years, Kelly Cosgrove, having seen Ms Turner deteriorate so fast, decided to make one last wish come true.

She began a Facebook appeal to catch the attention of Ward to meet Turner before she died.

The X Factor singer got wind of the appeal and arrived at Ms Turner's home in Wythenshawe last Friday greeting her with a kiss and a hug and chatting at her bedside as she wept tears of joy.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News today of her friend's passing, Ms Cosgrove said: "I was holding her hand.

"The nurses were around me and they told me to talk to her. She just slipped away.

“She knew what was coming. She just deteriorated,” she added.
