Man hands himself in to Gardai following weekend hit and run in Dublin

GARDAI in Dublin are interviewing a man who presented himself to Gardai following a suspected hit and run which left a 24-year-old man with serious injuries.

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning when Dylon Fitzgibbon was making his way home to the Mount Argus area near Harold’s Cross after a night out with friends.

Mr Fitzgibbon’s body was found on Parnell Road at the junction with Clogher Road in Dublin 12 at just before 6 am in the morning.

He had sustained serious head and leg injuries, as well as cuts and abrasions consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

A man presented himself to Gardai at Sundrive Road Garda Station yesterday and is currently being questioned in relation to the incident.

Dylon, who is originally from Carrigaline, Co. Cork, had been working in IT Dublin, had previously sustained serious head injuries in a fall while on a visit to the US four years ago.

For that reason, doctors treated him have been taking extreme caution with his injuries.

Dylon’s parents have travelled from Cork to be at his bedside.
