Little Irish boy reunited with his beloved puppy after heartless thief abandoned pup over 100 miles away

A 10-YEAR-OLD Irish boy whose pet pug was snatched from his arms has been reunited with the beloved pup after it was found safe over 100 miles away.

The puppy, a six-month-old named Niki, was stolen from heartbroken Nikita Onanko outside an ALDI supermarket in Wexford Town last week.

But the stolen pup was reunited with his best friend at the weekend after being discovered by Garda Jill Mangan locked in a shed over 180km away in Co. Meath.

It’s understood the heartless thief or thieves abandoned Niki in the shed when they realised he was microchipped and could not be sold on.

Taking to Facebook, Nikita’s dad Andrey shared the good news and said he’d received a call to say beloved Niki had been found safe and well.

He said: “Great news! Our dog is found (sic). Big big thank you to the thousands of non indifferent people for huge support and help!

"I'm again believing in humanity! The Trim Garda officers, great job!"

Mum Natalia added: “"It's a miracle. It is hard to believe he was found in Meath and we live in Wexford.

"The Gardai probably saved him from starving to death.”

In a statement, Gardai said they are investigating the cold-hearted theft and charges are likely in the near future.
