An Irishman has died in Liverpool following a hit and run

A MAN has died in Liverpool's city centre while out on a stag party.

A 24-year-old man has tragically passed while on holiday in Liverpool in the UK.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the man was hit by a grey car on Liverpool's Strand Street at approximately 11.40pm on Friday night. The driver of the car is believed to have sped off in the car, away from the scene of the crime.

Emergency services were called to aid the man, who gave him first aid and brought him to Royal Liverpool Hospital, however the man was pronounced dead at 2.30am on Saturday morning.

The man was reported to have been visiting the British city with friends before being hit by a car and killed on The Strand road in Liverpool City.

Inspector Danny Harris, working with Merseyside Police confirmed the tragic death of the young man "This is an extremely serious incident in which a young man has tragically died. We need anyone who saw the collision or remembers seeing a grey or silver-coloured BMW in or around this area to come forward...

"The person behind the wheel at the time of this collision knows what has happened and it is important that they do the right thing and come forward and help us understand what has happened. The city is covered by CCTV and we are using every resource at our disposal to investigate this tragedy and will not stop until we have identified and tracked down everyone who was there at the time."
