Irish weather forecaster in shock as heat goes off the charts on hottest day of the year

THEY have covered everything from storms to flooding and let us know when it's wise to bring a brolly to work, but it was the heat that proved too much for one Irish weather presenter.

Joanna O'Donnelly, a meteorologist with Irish broadcaster RTÉ shared a satellite sequencing image which predicted the mercury could hit 30 degrees in parts of the country this afternoon on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Ms Donnelly said she had never seen anything like it in her 14 years at Met Eireann.

She sent a follow-up tweet, taking full advantage of sunshine...

People have been responding proving her point...
