POLICE in North Yorkshire are appealing to find an Irish man who stole a man’s watch as he took a morning walk through a park just outside the city centre.
The incident occurred at around 8.50am on Tuesday December 15 as the victim walked along the track on Hob Moor Fields towards York.
He was approached by two men who were walking in the opposite direction towards Acomb.
One of the men put his arm out and stopped the victim, asking him to hand over any money that he had in his possession or his watch.
The victim gave the man £18 and his watch, and both of the men then ran off in the direction of York.
The first man is described as white, in his early twenties, 6ft 2inches tall, with an athletic build and broad shoulders.
He was wearing a black Adidas hoodie, which was pulled up over his head, light grey tracksuit bottoms and black trainers, and he had an Irish accent.
The second man is described as white, in his early twenties, 6ft tall and of average build.
The lower half of his face was covered with a black scarf with only his eyes were visible. He was wearing a black hoodie, which was pulled up over his head, loose fitting blue jeans and black Nike trainers and he had a Yorkshire accent.
PC Amanda Popely, of York Police, said: "I am asking for witnesses who saw anyone in the area of Hob Moor Fields at the time to contact the police, as they may have important information that could assist the investigation."
