Irish farmer (60s) arrested after ramming Garda car with tractor in west of Ireland pursuit

A FARMER has been arrested after his tractor collided with a garda vehicle during a pursuit in a rural west of Ireland village.

Video footage has emerged of the moment the tractor drove into the squad car in the village of Rathmore, Co. Kerry at around 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

It shows two Garda cars tailing the tractor on a main road after it failed to stop.

The tractor was then filmed pushing one of the vehicles sideways several feet.

A man in his 60s was arrested after the tractor was eventually halted by pursuing gardai.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardai have arrested a man, believed to be in his 60s, at 4pm on September 3rd 2017 in Rathmore, Co Kerry.

“The man was arrested for Endangerment, Dangerous Driving and Criminal Damage.

“Two Garda members received minor injuries during the incident but did not require hospital treatment.”

The man involved in the incident is being questioned at Mallow Garda Station in Co. Cork.
