33-YEAR-OLD JAMIE MCCARTHY has died in South Carolina.
The Cork native was living in America with his girlfriend before his death.
It is believed McCarthy won a scholarship to Coastal Carolina University, where he worked most recently as a coach to students at the establishment.
According to Independent, the runner died in a collision of cars near Myrtle Beach, and his girlfriend was rushed to hospital and believed to be in a critical condition.
