Investigation underway after body of young man found in Irish pub's freezer

AN INVESTIGATION is underway after the body of a young man was found in the walk in freezer of Irish pub and restaurant Molly Malone's.

The young man, named locally as 20-year-old Brandon Chandler, was found in the walk-in freezer of the Pleasant Ridge Irish pub in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The discovery was made by a staff member at the pub early on Monday morning, July 31, where it's understood Mr Chandler had closed the restaurant the night before according to local news WPCO.

Cincinnati Police Sergeant William Bell said: "We want to make sure his family is aware of what's going on, and make sure there's no foul play.

"Currently we have different parts of our profession coming to give their opinions to do some follow up questions and then determine what the next course of action will be."

Cincinnati Police are still investigating the man's death.

The cause of death is still unknown, however Sergeant Bell also added that Mr Chandler was not locked in to the freezer, and there did not appear to have been a robbery.

Local businessman Jeff Hoffman from Queen's City Card Company told WPCO said: "It's a terrible thing to hear about something like that. Our heart goes out to the family, that's got to be devastating."

The Irish-owned pub and restaurant posted on their Facebook and Twitter to confirm the tragic death.

On Facebook, the pub posted: "Yesterday we suffered the loss of a member of our close knit Molly's family. We appreciate the outpouring of support we have seen from everyone in the community.

"Please remember his family in your thoughts and prayers during this tough time."

The pub has also reopened its bar service, with all proceeds and tips donated to Mr Chandler's family to help cover the cost of the young man's funeral.
