AMERICAN metal band Bad Wolves have released their version of the Cranberries Zombie, which Dolores O’ Riordan had travelled to London to record vocals for.
O’ Riordan passed away on Monday morning, just hours before she was due to go into a recording studio to record vocals for the cover of the classic track.
The band have decided to release their cover of the song without Dolores’ vocals as a tribute to her, and are donating all proceeds to her three children.
“We are shocked and saddened at the news of Dolores’s passing, mere hours before she was to record vocals on our upcoming version of Zombie”.

The band’s frontman Tommy Vext spoke to Rolling Stone about the decision to release the track to the public.
“We could have shelved it, but I don’t think it would have done justice to what we were trying to accomplish.
“Now the song has a weight and a depth to it that no one outside of being this close to it could possibly imagine. It almost feels like we had to do it. It feels like we’re compelled to have her work continue on through us.”
The band altered some of the lyrics in the song, changing the 1916 Easter Rising reference to a reference to issues in 2018 in an attempt to update the song.
“I was really hoping to meet her, say thank you for everything – for her music and her willingness to contribute and her approval,” he continued.
“It was, unfortunately, something that I didn’t get to experience.”
Vext now hopes that Bad Wolves' cover serves as a tribute to O'Riordan. "We could have shelved it, but I don't think it would have done justice to what we were trying to accomplish," he says.
