THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Dublin today as Ireland celebrated St Patrick’s Day.

Irish President Michael D Higgins was among the guests at the St Patrick’s Festival Parade in the Irish capital.

The procession was led by Grand Marshal Liam Cunningham, star of the hit TV show Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, was present as the festival’s inaugural International Guest of Honour.
