Female cyclist in her 60s killed in collision with tractor in rural Ireland

A CYCLIST in her 60s had died following a collision with a tractor in the south of Ireland.

The incident happened on the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy road near Shanbally at around 1pm this afternoon.

The 65-year-old bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem investigation.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured and was treated for shock at the scene.

Traffic diversions are in place and collision investigators are present to allow for a forensic examination.

Traffic approaching from Shannon Park roundabout is being diverted to Carrigaline and traffic from Ringaskiddy is being diverted to Rapheen.
