Clonakilty Black Pudding now available in Britain

Clonakilty Black Pudding, one of the most popular ingredients in the traditional Irish fry-up, is now available in Britain after an 18-month effort to get it on supermarket shelves

Following a launch event in London last Thursday, the black pudding is now available in 340 Tesco stores in England and Wales, with Clonakilty now exporting 2.5 tonnes of black pudding every week.

Louise Murphy from Clonakilty said: “For the last 18 months we've been doing our own launch into the UK via our own distribution. As a result of the last 18 months work we've actually gotten national listing in over 350 Tesco stores ... and a lot of independent butchers, farmer shops and the likes of Harrods,' she said.

“Although we have been in the UK for a number of years, we've finally taken control ourselves and we're officially launching in the UK with our own product line.”

Meanwhile, black pudding fans looking to mix it up with something other than a fry can get inspired on the Clonakilty Black pudding website - including a recipe for making a Salad of Clonakilty Blackpudding, Potato, Char-grilled Red Onion and Walnut.
