Carlton Hunt: Drummer of London Irish band BibleCode Sundays passes away

THE drummer of London Irish rock band BibleCode Sundays, Carlton Hunt, has sadly passed away in hospital.

Mr Hunt, 54, died in intensive care shortly after 4.20am this morning after falling ill on Wednesday, October 25.

The highly-respected percussionist, who had been with the band since they formed in 2006, had previously played with the ska band Bad Manners.

Last week, BibleCode Sundays announced that Mr Hunt was “seriously ill in intensive care” after falling ill.

Taking to Facebook again this morning, the band paid tribute to their “brother and friend”.

They said: “Just after 4:20am this morning, Friday 3rd November, we lost our brother, friend and drummer Carlton Hunt.

“We all spent time with him in his final hours and got to say everything we wanted to say, he passed peacefully with the same dignity and peace with which he lived his life.

“One of life's true gentlemen, he will be missed and loved forever by all that had the pleasure to know him.

“He leaves a huge hole in our band, our music and our hearts.

“We will ask once again for the time and space to come to terms with our loss and for everyone to respect the privacy of his family and close friends.”

They added: “Ladies and Gentlemen, on drums Mr Carlton Hunt”.

Glowing tributes to the talented drummer have been pouring in on social media.

Scottish folk band The Wakes wrote: “It is with great sadness that we extend our condolences to the family of our friend Carlton Hunt.

“Carlton was the drummer with a The BibleCode Sundays and we have shared stages, laughs and drinks with many times over the past ten years.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys. RIP brother”.

Fellow London Irish band The Reels described Mr Hunt as a “legendary” drummer.

“Carlton was a great friend to The Reels and played with us on numerous occasions,” they said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family at this time. He will be sadly missed xxxxx”.
