Car set on fire in Belfast

IN THE Stranmillis area of Belfast in County Antrim, a car was destroyed by a fire.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a Volkswagon Polo was set alight along the embankment.

At approximately 7.15am this morning, the grey vehicle was set on fire while being parked in the embankment area.

According to Belfast Telegraph, the local authorities were called and the fire service that arrived dealt with the fire.

Despite best efforts of firefights, the effects of the blaze annihilated the interior of the car.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service's Sergeant Jeffers appealed to anyone in the nearby vicinity for information: "Anyone who has information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 162 13/02/18."

"Or, alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
