'Bone-idle, filthy, mucky Mancunians need to wake up', says Pat Karney

AN IRISH councillor in Manchester has accused ‘bone-idle Mancunians’ of vandalism after new benches in the city’s Piccadilly Gardens were badly damaged and left covered in litter.

Dublin-born city centre spokesman Councillor Pat Karney said: “I went out to inspect the vandalism on the new benches - on it were cans, takeaways, bottles and there’s litter bins right next to every bench.

“The bone-idle, filthy, young, mucky Mancunians doing this damage to their city need to wake up. They were seen jumping up and down on the benches and we have had to repaint one already,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

The councillor, who rarely minces his words, added that the council is also frustrated that people have been sitting on the benches despite ‘wet paint’ signs.

Council workers have already had to repair several of the benches after football fans jumped up and down on them.
