Belfast mum to become one of Britain and Ireland's youngest grandmothers

A BELFAST woman will become one of Britain and Ireland’s youngest grandmothers at the age of 29. 

The mother-of-two, who had her first child at 14, discovered her daughter – who is 15 years old – was pregnant late last year.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the 15 year old school girl from north Belfast wrote on Facebook:

“I can’t wait to be a mum”, adding, "don't think it's hit me yet."

The father of the child, who is believed to be around 17 years of age, has also been sharing the news on social media.

Meanwhile it is believed the grandmother-in-waiting will be the North of Ireland’s youngest granny and one of the youngest currently known of in Britain.

The age of sexual consent in the Republic of Ireland is 17 and 16 in the North of Ireland.
