Irish football fans pull off perfectly-timed prank on live television at the Euros

Image of a group of lads in the background of an interview on RTE news

WHEN you are in the background of a live television broadcast, your first instinct may be to stay quiet and behave so you don't embarrass yourself, but not these boisterous Irish football fans.

During a televised interview on RTÉ last Sunday, June 12, the lads in green Ireland jerseys (pictured above) couldn't resist playing up for the camera.

The clip, which was posted to Twitter by Quinton O'Reilly, shows one of the Ireland fans throwing a fake punch at his friend, who then falls to the ground.

In the foreground, RTÉ presenter Daire O'Brien interviews former Carlow senior hurling manager John Meyler oblivious to what is happening behind them.

This interview was part of RTÉ's preview of the Ireland vs Sweden match on June 13.

Ireland drew 1-1 to Sweden as a result of a Ciaran Clarke own goal.

Ireland will face Belgium this Saturday, June 18, at 3pm local time in Bordeaux.
