Piers Morgan reveals his Irishness during Late Late Show interview

CONTROVERSIAL broadcaster Piers Morgan revealed his Irish heritage while a guest on The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy.

The former editor of the Daily Mirror told the host on Friday night “I am one of you”.

He explained: “Let’s get this on the table right away. My father was from Galway and the family moved to Banagher in Offaly.”

Morgan later tweeted that his time in Ireland “felt like home” before tweeting a post-show selfie of himself and Tubridy enjoying a pint of Guinness on a night out in Dublin city.

Now based in the US, where he is the editor-at-large for Mail Online, Morgan remains something of a marmite figure – with people either loving or detesting his brash antics and no punches held opinions, which he regularly vents on the Twitter platform.

In typical Morgan style, the journalist slated a number of fellow celebrities while on RTÉ’s Late Late Show last week, claiming Hollywood actor George Clooney “drinks life a fish”, branding British Prime Minister David Cameron a “weasel” and describing Brit actor Hugh Grant as a “ghastly little man”.
