Ireland on #MelWatch as Hollywood actor Mel Gibson makes Dublin his new home

PEOPLE in Dublin are on high alert as huge Hollywood actor Mel Gibson has been spotted making the city his own.

Irish people are officially on #MelWatch as the actor and his expecting partner, writer Rosalind Ross, have been seen making the city their home over the last few weeks.

Gibson is in Ireland for eight weeks filming The Professor and The Madman with Sean Penn.

While Penn has been keeping a low profile, Mel Gibson has been spotted enjoying what the city has to offer, from FX Buckleys, to the Dublin Mountains and a Skerries cafe.

It's the first time since filming Braveheart 20 years ago that the actor has spent an extended period of time in Ireland.

In a recent interview about his film Blood Father, Gibson - whose mother hails from Ireland - discussed meeting Michael D Higgins in 2014.

"He was wearing a very nice Donegal tweed suit," Gibson said. "Which I liked so much I went out and got myself the exact same suit - in my size of course!"
