Graham Norton's cheeky Twitter quip to Tom Hanks about his new book is priceless

GRAHAM NORTON has sent Tom Hanks a cheeky quip about his new book over Twitter - and it's brilliant.

The world-famous pair, who are now both published authors, have enjoyed many a memorable meeting over the years, with Hanks appearing numerous times on Norton's popular Friday night Channel 4 show.

And their latest encounter has sparked one of the best moments between the two yet.

Last month Oscar-winning actor Hanks released his first work of fiction Uncommon Type, sending a copy to Norton who himself dipped a toe in the world of novel-writing following the release of his debut work Holding last year.

Yet it seems the Hollywood legend didn't actually expect the Irishman to read his book, if this tweet is anything to go by...

"So I see Tom Hanks didn’t think I’d bother to read his brilliant new book," Norton wrote on Twitter after finding the actor had signed his copy of the book in the most hilarious way.

"Wrong!" he added.

According to publishers Penguin, Uncommon Type is a collection of 17 short stories featuring a hectic, funny sexual affair between two best friends - including a World War II veteran and a second-rate actor plunged into sudden stardom.

And while we know that Cork chat show Norton host loves the book, Mr Hanks is yet to respond to the cheeky comment on social media.
