Ronan has already picked up a Golden Globe and is nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the newly released Lady Bird, directed by Greta Gerwig.

Elsewhere, Colin Farrell, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and John Connors are nominated for Actor in a Leading Role, while rising star Barry Keoghan is up for the Actor in a Supporting Role gong.

Martin McDonagh, who has two IFTA awards under his belt for 2008’s In Bruges and 2004’s Six Shooter. Tonight, he is nominated for Best Director, for his stunning Three Billboard's Outside Ebbing Missouri, which is also up for a host of Academy Awards.

In tribute to Gabriel Byrne, here's a throwback to one of his earlier roles as Pat Barry in Bracken in 1978. Considering he didn't start acting until he was 29 years old, he has left quite the mark on the film and tv industry.
