G.A.A.

Charlestown saw their hopes of Welcome Inn senior league success dashed when they succumbed to Knockmore on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-5 in their penultimate fixture played at sunsplashed Knockmore recently. Both teams were depleted in their line-up`s and the Sarsfields turned in a listless erratic display and were guilty of much squandermania which they were forced to rue at the final whistle. Their display bore all the hallmarks of a tired weary side with the effects of a long hard season taking their toll on several players who were very much below par. Full credit to Knockmore however, they deserved their victory as they were that little bit more efficient in their use of possession and were able to take the scoring chances they created that bit better than the Sarsfields which was the difference at the end of normal time. The Sarsfields have one game remaining in the league away to Ballina Stephenites on Saturday October 26th (subject to confirmation) and they head into the winter break with much to reflect and ponder on.
