"Custard pies are not the only answer!"

The Green Party values the energy, spirit and heart that young people bring to their lives, says Party Candidate Ms Ann Crowley who has appealed to young people to come out and vote for a Green future.
"We are alarmed at the degree with which society uses young people as part of an economic process whilst worsening the quality of life for young people," said Ms Crowley. "It is time for the youth of Ireland to set the agenda for the 21st century.
She pointed out that for 'evil to flourish all it takes is a few good people to do nothing'. Democracy might be a flawed process but it was better than handing over control to faceless big business who are not answerable to the voters.
Ms Crowley said that environmental issues affected us all. "If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem," she said.
"This applies to the youth of Ireland as well as older citizens. Many young people work as environmental and social activists to ensure that things change for the better. Work with us to make it happen- through the political process as well.
"Ireland has the youngest population in Europe. The Green policy is based on the principle that young people need information and an opportunity for participation to look to the future with hope and live happy fulfilled lives in the present.
"The Greens aim to support and encourage decision-making amongst young people. Participation by young people in their communities, education , work, politics , sports and cultural life enriches all us materially and spiritually. It is an antidote to the cynicism of this era. Custard pies are not the only answer!"
