MARY Black, Shane MacGowan and newcomers Triniti were the recipients of the Irish Post Awards Music Awards.



Shane was honoured for his illustrious music career as The Pogues singer received the Music Personality Award.

It was
a fitting tribute to a man whose fusion of traditional Irish music and punk rock changed the face of Irish music forever.

Ma
cGowan is best known for his sumptuous duet with Kirsty McColl on Fairytale of New York.

Fellow music legend Mary Black collected the Music Hall Of Fame Award.

Mary is known throughout the world and is a seminal figure in Irish music with 10 platinum solo records to her credit.

She is has also been credited with being one of those responsible for the resurgence of Irish music across the globe over the past few years.

Meanwhile, Irish girl group Triniti were conferred with the Music Newcomer Award and after receiving their gongs they gave a splendid rendition of Fields of Gold.

Triniti met in their hometown of Dublin last year and thanks to their gorgeous voices and ethereal harmonies have given a new impetus to the Irish music scene.
